Demand Perfection
GROHE takes pride in manufacturing quality faucets and fittings for the bathroom and kitchen. To ensure performance and longevity, all components and products are subjected to numerous tests in our three laboratories: Function test laboratory, Material and process technology laboratory and Life-testing laboratory.
Industry standards are only the basis for our quality-minded approach. GROHE performance checks and internal test reports ensure that our products surpass external requirements, e.g. our faucets must complete several life-cycle tests, equivalent to an average lifetime of 15 years.
Function tests
Ease of use, comfort of handling and ease of installation are just some of the tests that are carried out by the GROHE Function test laboratory. Before production of a new product commences, all parts and materials are tested to ensure the functionality of the design.
In 2009, function tests were performed on over 2000 different products and components.
Material and process tests
More than 20 different surface tests are conducted in the GROHE material and process technology laboratory. Immersion tests ensure that our products are not damaged by household cleaning products, while our color stability test simulates exposure to strong sunlight – for example, to ensure that the fresh colors of the spray plates on our Rainshower® WaterColours Collection hand showers are fade-proof, non-yellowing and will remain vibrant and true throughout their lifetime.
All materials used in our faucets, showers and thermostats meet international drinking water safety standards.
Life testing
Our life-testing laboratory is located in Lahr, in Germany’s Black Forest – an area known for its exceptionally hard water. It is here, under challenging conditions, that GROHE faucets, showers, thermostats and related components are subjected to endurance tests.
Worldwide, GROHE has a large range of extensive life tests, which ensure long life and reliability. These tests simulate 15 years of daily usage and the effects of wear, lime scale and material ageing.
Independent testing
In addition to our rigorous internal tests, many of our products compete in independent tests, which compare the performance of our products against similar products manufactured by our competitors. To read more about our achievements click here.
